Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Hello Lovelies,
I hope that you are all having a fab weekend! Today's post is going to be a review on the stunning Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette which I recently purchased from Space NK., so read on to find out my thoughts on this luxurious little beauty which has found its way into my make up collection!
First of all I am going to be honest and admit that more make up than one person could ever need (if such a thing is even possible haha!). I am currently trying to downsize my collection by either using up products, throwing out ones that are out of date and giving anything else that I don't like anymore away to friends. Highlighters however are the one beauty product I don't actually own too many of. In fact, the only other highlighter I have in my collection is the iconic but now sadly discontinued Amber Diamond highlighter by Christian Dior. So when I recently stumbled into Space NK with £10 credit on my Space NK. N. Dulge rewards card and spotted the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, I just knew I needed to add it to my make up collection!
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette consists of 3 gorgeous finishing powders. They are technically speaking not highlighters, but I only discovered this after owning the palette haha!
All 3 shades in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette are highly pigmented, finely milled, very soft and blend like a dream, but they are all very different products in their own right, so let me explain what each shade is like and how I personally like using it.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Dim Light is the first shade in the palette. It is a neutral beige powder that, unlike the other 2 colours in the palette, is a completely matte shade and has no shimmer to it. I would say Dim Light has a satin finish and I like using it once I have finished doing the rest of my make up (which includes setting powder). I use a fluffy brush and dust Dim Light all over my face. I find that this product diffuses everything and blurs out my imperfections and pores. I've actually had quite a few compliments on how healthy my skin looks since I started using Dim Light, so this is definitely a winning product for me!
The second shade in the palette is called Incandescent Light and it is the only limited edition finishing powder in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. Incandescent Light is a very subtle highlighter which adds radiance to your skin. It's not too glittery or shimmery so I find you can use it all over your face if you wish, or you can pop it onto the top of your cheekbones and on the high points of your face where it will mainly noticeable when the light hits you. This is what I tend to do with Incandescent Light. Out of all the 3 shades in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, I think Incandescent Light is the one shade that is the most compareable to your traditional highlighter.
The final shade in the palette is called Radiant Light. It's the darkest out of all the 3 shades and has a golden peachy shimmer to it which is perfect for adding warmth to your skin. If you are very pale you could probably get away with using this as a bronzer. I'm a bit more (fake) tanned though, so I've been using this on top of my cheek and contour colour to give me a subtle sunkissed glow. Out of all 3 shades in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, Radiant Light is perhaps the one I reach for the last but that may well change once summer comes around!
As you can tell, I am in love with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette and I am so glad I treated myself and bought it! It retails for £56 which I know is a lot of money, but I think it this palette worth every penny and I am so glad I now have it in my make up collection!

  1. This is such a beautiful highlight palette...I've wanted to try it out, but now that I see your swatches I don't think I would get use out of all the colors they might not all suit my skin tone.
